Another week, another list!
1. gishwhes + Random Acts
So, I finally registered for gishwhes and I cannot be more stoked to be a part of this amazingness! It all started because I love Supernatural (yes, the TV show). The weird and wonderful Misha Collins keeps posting about it, so I decided to check it out and I was hooked.
g.i.s.h.w.h.e.s. (which stands for the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen) is a 5-time Guinness World Record breaking scavenger hunt hosted by Misha Collins that you can compete in from anywhere in the world (even from your own home!).
Gishwhes is part silliness, part art, part kindness and 100% fun. And if you win, youll be taken on a trip of a lifetime with Misha Collins to the jungles of Costa Rica.
And Gishwhes does good! Many of our scavenger tasks help communities, and we are the single largest contributor to the charity Random Acts!
So, I figured, I would love to do some silly things in my community, while spreading some good vibes and kindness! Watch out for more posts on this on the first week of August.
I am thankful for famous people who contribute positively to the community, and to the world around them -- and do it out of the goodness of their heart, and not for promotion or whatever.
P.S. Misha is amazing.
2. Small businesses that are so dedicated to their craft!
I've been following a couple of small business all over the world (thanks Instagram), and I feel really delighted when I encounter such kind and wonderful people who own small businesses! Real people that you can talk to, even develop friendships with, and the best part is: they have AMAZING products.
Make sure you check out The Hipster Housewife and Paper Gold Co.
I'm actually extra excited and grateful because Christine (from THH) is sending me a parcel full of goodies! I love collaborations. I'm squealing with excitement but you can't really tell from letters much haha. I'll be posting a lot more about her brand and work soon. It's so very encouraging and authentic and amazing!!!
Katie from Paper Gold Co is another gem! I've just ordered my stamps and I cannot *cannot* wait to receive them! Her warmth and care just radiates from her posts and e-mails. It's a joy to deal with her.
I seriously want to buy everything in their shops haha :p
3. Friends overseas
This week, I was able to get in touch with beloved friends from California, Melbourne, and Africa — and I love how they can still make an impact in my life, regardless of the distance.
It was my best friend, Bekah's, birthday a few days ago — and I am so thankful for the friendship we have. We've been friends for maybe ten or eleven years now, and my love for her grows and grows. Despite the fact that she's in San Jose, California, and I'm here in Auckland, New Zealand, the friendship stays close to my heart. She will always be special to me (also hi Deb, you too!).
Diane is someone I met through Tumblr (yay!) and we've been good friends ever since (maybe 2011?). We were texting earlier this week about her new project called Fair Enough and I am so excited to see where this takes her and her friend! If you love all things green, healthy, eco-friendly--jump on over to their website! I need to visit her in Melbs. Hmmmm.
And Sacha, beloved Sacha. She's in Jinja, Africa right now. I met her through Elim's youth programme called Oxygen, and was also my classmate in MTC (Ministry Training College). Through the years, the sleepovers, coffee/tea dates, I've learnt so much from this powerful woman of God. I enjoy seeing her adventures in Africa. She always sends me encouraging messages, verses, and just has an awesome heart of gold. Love you Sach. You don't know how much I appreciate your prayers and messages.
4. Jared Padalecki
Sam Winchester of Supernatural. I creepily follow him on Twitter, and his Facebook Page is full of goodies that warm my soul. He's dealt with a lot of things in life, and he's encouraging all of us to #AlwaysKeepFighting. Check out his current campaign, and how cute is his family?!?! I'm thankful for proud parents :)
5. God
I mean, every day, of course Jesus is good and wonderful and always thanked, but this week, I just had a sense of reality hitting me in the face: I don't have to worry about life because God will always provide for my needs. It's a given that I'm not sitting on my bum twiddling my fingers but a normal human being that goes out into the world and has work/motivation/drive to make things happen. But YEAH SO - God. I thank God for being a w e s o m e. It's been an incredible year so far—I can't wait to see what happens in the next couple of months!!!
What are you thankful for this week? :)
